A's Place Reddick on the 15-day DL; Designate Neshek for Assignment

Scribner Recalled and Barton Selected from Triple-A Sacramento

The Oakland A's placed outfielder Josh Reddick on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right wrist, the club announced today. The A's also designated right-handed pitcher Pat Neshek for assignment. To take their spots on the roster, the A's have selected first baseman Daric Barton from Triple-A Sacramento and recalled right-handed pitcher Evan Scribner from Sacramento.

Reddick was batting .213 with 10 home runs and 46 RBI in 97 games with the A's. He was batting .264 with five home runs over his last 15 games after hitting just five home runs over his first 82 contests. This is his second career stint on the disabled list as he was also out earlier this year from May 7 to 30 with a sprained right wrist.

Neshek was 2-1 with a 3.58 ERA and .265 opponents batting average in 41 relief appearances. He logged a 2.10 ERA over his first 29 games through June 25 but has a 6.75 ERA in 12 games since then. Neshek has appeared in just two of the A's past 15 games.

Barton joins the A's for the second time this year after hitting .143 with a home run and three RBI in eight games during his first stint from May 8 to 17. He has spent the balance of the season at Sacramento where he is batting .297 with 29 doubles, seven home runs and 69 RBI in 110 games. Barton leads the Pacific Coast League with 87 walks and ranks second with a .423 on-base percentage. He is batting .360 in 20 games in the month of August.

Scribner is in his fourth stint with the A's in 2013 and has no decisions and a 5.03 ERA in 13 relief appearances. He was on the A's Opening Day roster and logged a 4.26 ERA in eight relief appearances before his first option April 20. Scribner appeared in four games during his second stint from April 30 to May 9 and once during his most recent stay from August 3 to 8. He is 3-1 with one save, a 2.32 ERA and .199 opponents batting average in 29 relief appearances with the River Cats. Scribner appeared in four games following his most recent option and was 2-0 with a 1.42 ERA.
