OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's claimed outfielder Kenny Wilson off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays and optioned him to Triple-A Sacramento, the club announced today. The A's also outrighted outfielder Nick Buss to Sacramento.
Wilson began the season with Double-A New Hampshire in the Toronto organization before he was claimed off waivers by Minnesota April 24. He played for Double-A New Britain before he was claimed off waivers by the Blue Jays May 11. The 24-year old right-handed hitter played for both New Hampshire and Triple-A Buffalo during his second stint in the Blue Jays organization before he was designated for assignment on Saturday. Wilson is batting a combined .234 with two home runs, 22 RBI and 22 stolen bases in 76 minor league games.
Buss was designated for assignment Saturday to clear a 40-man spot following the trade with the Cubs. He was batting .274 with three home runs and 24 RBI in 56 games with Sacramento. Buss was originally claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers May 4 after hitting .261 with a home run and 16 RBI in 26 games with Triple-A Albuquerque.
