Rangers claim Rosales off waivers from A's

Infielder designated by Oakland on Wednesday; hitting .193 with four homers

Infielder Adam Rosales will be returning to Oakland on Friday night, but he will do so wearing a Rangers uniform after Texas claimed him off waivers earlier in the day.

Rosales, 30, had been designated for assignment by Oakland on Wednesday. He had cleared waivers when the A's previously designated him for assignment on July 8, but the Rangers elected to claim him away from their division rivals this time around.

Though primarily a shortstop during his time with Oakland, Rosales also saw time at second base, third base and left field. He hit .193 with four home runs and eight RBIs in 50 games (34 starts) this season with the A's.

For his career, Rosales is a .220 hitter with 19 home runs and 76 RBIs over six seasons with the A's and Reds.
