The Oakland Athletics have hired Chris Townsend as Host and Senior Broadcast Producer, the Club announced today. In this newly created role, Townsend will be responsible for creating and delivering multimedia A's content across multiple platforms.
"I can't tell you how grateful I am to get the opportunity to work for the organization that I love. I've always appreciated working around the team, but my dream has always been to work directly for the organization," said Chris Townsend. "With the direction the A's are going, I'm thrilled to be able to provide this fanbase the coverage and depth that they've always wanted and deserved."
"We are thrilled to welcome Chris to our organization," said A's COO Chris Giles. "He is a veteran Bay Area host and personality, and he will offer fans a never-before-seen look inside our organization."
Townsend will also return to the airwaves as the host of the A's pre and postgame shows and in-studio host during the broadcasts. Fans will continue to be able to engage with him during the games from inside the broadcast center at The Treehouse.
Townsend has worked in numerous capacities covering the A's, from prior roles in both TV and radio. He joins the A's after working for a number of local sports companies, including 95.7 The Game, KNBR 680, and CSN Sports Bay Area.
