Oakland A's to host 50th anniversary game during second homestand

The A's will return home to the Coliseum on Monday, April 16, for a six-game homestand versus the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox.

The A's will return home to the Coliseum on Monday, April 16, for a six-game homestand versus the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox. 
To commemorate the A's half-century in Oakland, the team is hosting a free admission game to fans on April 17 - exactly 50 years after the A's inaugural game at the Coliseum. Lew Krausse, who was the A's starting pitcher during the inaugural game in Oakland in 1968, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch ahead of the 7:05 p.m. game versus the Chicago White Sox. Both teams will wear throwback 1968 jerseys for the game.

Broadcasting change: Due to the Warriors and Sharks playoff games, the A's game will be broadcast on NBC California Plus for TV and Q102 for radio. 
Championship Plaza: Due to the Warriors game, Championship Plaza will be closed and there will not be food trucks for this game. 
Green Stampede Homework Club: Elementary school students will visit the Coliseum to receive help with their homework from tutors and aides. After the students have finished their homework, they will be able to sit in the stands and watch the game.

50th anniversary babies: In partnership with Sutter Health, A's players and Stomper are scheduled to visit newborn babies and their families at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center - Alta Bates campus in Berkeley at noon. They will distribute A's/Sutter Health onesies to the newest A's fans. 
MLB Network tote bag giveaway: 35,000 fans will receive a 50th anniversary tote bag, courtesy of MLB Network. 
Seating: Seating for the 50th anniversary game is general admission on a first-come, first-served basis. Fans are asked not to save seats. All seats in Sections 106 to 128 will be reserved for Season Ticket Members until the game begins. 
Concessions: All concession stands throughout the Coliseum will be open for the game. Concession items are available for purchase at their regular prices. 
Merchandise: The Coliseum Team Stores will feature a 1968 Oakland T-shirt, as well as a limited number of authentic throwback 1968 jerseys and caps. Merchandise items are available for purchase at their regular prices. 
A's Community Fund Silent Auction: Every Saturday and Sunday home game (and other select games), the A's Community Fund hosts a silent auction featuring signed and unsigned A's memorabilia as well as game-used items. The silent auctions are in the Community Corner at Section 218 and end with the last out in the bottom of the fifth inning. 
A's Community Fund 50/50 Raffle: At select home games throughout the 2018 season, fans can participate in the A's Community Fund 50/50 Raffle, presented by Sutter Health. One lucky fan will win half of the gross proceeds raised at each game, with the remaining proceeds benefitting the Oakland A's Community Fund. A's Wives fundraiser at Kendra Scott: Kristi Hendriks, Lauren Coulombe, and the Oakland A's Wives will host a fundraiser at Kendra Scott (91 Broadway Lane in Walnut Creek) on Saturday, April 21. Twenty percent of purchases during the 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. event will go to the Oakland A's Community Fund. The event is open to the public. Parking is available at the Broadway Parking Garage. 
Warriors/A's baseball cap: The A's will host Bay Area Unite at the ballpark. Fans who pre-purchase a Bay Area Unite special ticket for the game will receive an exclusive A's/Warriors cap. To purchase tickets, visit athletics.com/warriors
Chevrolet Youth Baseball Clinic: Prior to the game, the A's coaching staff will host 200 young athletes from North Oakland and South Oakland Little League for a baseball workshop on Rickey Henderson Field. Courtesy of Chevrolet and the Bay Area Chevrolet dealers, participants will receive instruction on pitching, hitting, baserunning, and other skills, followed by an autograph session, photo opportunity, and lunch. 
Scout Day: The A's will host their annual Scout Day on April 21. This event is open to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts of all ages, as well as their families and friends. More than 2,000 children will participate in Scout Day, which includes a pregame tailgate and on-field parade. A's Boosters luncheon: A's COO Chris Giles will join the A's Boosters in the Eastside Club for a luncheon at noon. The A's Boosters is the longest-running A's fan club, and they make an annual donation to the Bill King Scholarship.
