Oakland recalls INF Franklin Barreto from Triple-A Nashville

The Oakland A's recalled infielder Franklin Barreto from Triple-A Nashville and placed infielder/outfielder Chad Pinder on the 10-day disabled list with a left elbow laceration (retro to July 28).

DENVER, Colorado -- The Oakland A's recalled infielder Franklin Barreto from Triple-A Nashville and placed infielder/outfielder Chad Pinder on the 10-day disabled list with a left elbow laceration (retro to July 28).
Pinder, 26, was hitting .259 (55-for-212) with 30 runs, nine doubles, one triple, 10 home runs, 23 RBI and a .785 OPS in 71 games with Oakland. He has made appearances at second base (17 G, 10 GS), third base (9 G, 3, GS), shortstop (3 G, 3 GS), left field (41 G, 34 GS), center field (3 G, 2 GS) and right field (8 G, 4 GS). This is his second stint on the 10-day disabled list this season. Was on the disabled list April 6-16 with a hyperextended left knee.
Barreto, 22, is in his fifth stint with the A's this season. He was previously in the Majors April 7-16, May 23-June 1, June 16-July 3 and July 14-23. He's hitting .233 (47-for-202) with 38 runs, 11 doubles, one triple, 11 home runs, 30 runs batted in and a .462 slugging percentage with Triple-A Nashville. He is batting .214 with three home runs and 10 RBI in 20 games overall with the A's this season.
