A's accepting donations for hurricane relief

The A's are doing their part to lend a hand from across the country to the victims affected by Hurricane Sandy in the Northeast.

The team's Community Fund is accepting monetary donations and sending proceeds to the Salvation Army, which is serving those impacted by the storm along the Eastern seaboard and Mid-Atlantic states with mobile feeding units, shelters and clean-up efforts.

Additionally, the team's fund will also send proceeds to the Humane Society of the United States, which will help animal rescue teams in their relief and rescue efforts in the area, as well as by providing supplies to affected animal shelters.

To donate to the effort via credit card, contact Detra Paige, director of community relations with the A's, at (510) 563-2241 or at [email protected].

To make a donation by check, make the check payable to "A's Community Fund" and in the notes section of the check, please designate which charity the funds should be donated to. Checks can be mailed to: Oakland Athletics, attn: Detra Paige, Director of Community Relations, 7000 Coliseum Way, Oakland, CA, 94621.
