OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s placed catcher Aramis Garcia on the injured list due to viral enteritis and recalled catcher Austin Allen from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.

Garcia has appeared in 13 games for the A’s this season and is hitting .135 with one home run. Acquired from Texas in February with SS Elvis Andrus and cash considerations for DH Khris Davis and C Jonah Heim, Garcia has caught three of four attempted base stealers this year.

Allen joins the A’s active roster for the first time this season and has been on the Club’s taxi squad for each of the first two road trips. In 2020, Allen appeared in 14 games for Oakland and hit .194 with one home run and three RBI.
