Blue Jays activate Janssen

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have activated RHP CASEY JANSSEN from the 15-day disabled list. 2B CHRIS GETZ has been designated for assignment.

JANSSEN, 32, has been on the disabled list since the beginning of the season with a left abdominal lower back strain. The 6-4, 205 pound right-hander posted a 4-1 record with a 2.56 ERA and a career-high 34 saves last season, his 2nd as the Blue Jays closer. In parts of eight Major League seasons, Janssen has recorded a 26-21 record with a 3.48 ERA and 65 saves in 339 games, including 22 starts. He returns to the club after tossing three scoreless innings for New Hampshire (AA) over three rehab appearances.

GETZ, 30, appeared in 10 games for Toronto this season, posting a .160 average (4-25) with one double and two stolen bases.
