ARLINGTON -- The Blue Jays had yet another injury scare Wednesday night, but this time it looks like they have avoided a serious setback.
Left fielder Steve Pearce was removed from Toronto's 7-5 victory over the Rangers shortly after crashing into the wall at Globe Life Park. The incident looked a lot worse than it was as Pearce was diagnosed with a bruised right knee. X-rays were negative and he is day to day.
Pearce was attempting to catch a deep fly off the bat of Joey Gallo during the fifth inning when the impact occurred. The ball bounced off the wall and Gallo didn't stop running until he picked up an inside-the-park homer. Pearce tried to run after the ball, but was noticeably hobbling.
"I couldn't see it," Pearce said. "When it went up, I looked back to find the wall and then I looked to find the ball again. I had no idea where it was. I had to rush back there and try to time the catch and I hit right in between two pads, something pretty hard."
Pearce initially remained in the game, but he did not come back out for the sixth. That had some fearing the worst for an organization that has placed 19 players on the disabled list, the club's highest total since 2013.
The good news is that there is no structural damage in the area and Pearce should be fine. He returned from the disabled list June 16 following a month-long absence because of a strained calf muscle. He had at least one hit in every game since then and was in the midst of a 3-for-3 night.

To begin the sixth, John Smith moved from center to left, with Kevin Pillar taking over in center.
"At first, when the adrenaline was in there, I thought I could go," Pearce said. "A couple of pitches later, I was like, 'Oh man, this is pretty tough.' I figured we'd just take care of it today."
Pearce said he hopes to return for the series finale Thursday afternoon. That's likely a little overly ambitious, but it does seem to indicate that Pearce won't miss much time. The Blue Jays appeared to finally catch a break when it comes to health.
"That's the plan," Pearce said about playing in the finale. "I hope so. No structural damage or anything like that. We'll just see how it feels [Thursday] and go from there."
Campos hits DL; Valdez recalled
The Blue Jays placed right-hander Leonel Campos on the 10-day disabled list before Wednesday's game. Campos strained his right groin while attempting to cover first base during Toronto's 6-1 loss to the Rangers on Tuesday night.

Right-hander Cesar Valdez was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to take Campos' spot. Toronto has placed 19 players on the DL, the club's highest total since 22 in 2013. In total, there have been 22 DL assignments for the Blue Jays.
Campos' latest stint lasted just one appearance. He was recalled from Buffalo on Tuesday to take the spot of righty Joe Smith, who was placed on the DL with inflammation in his right shoulder. Valdez made one appearance for Toronto earlier this season and he did not allow a run in his lone inning.
