Bautista's grab robs Castillo of a homer

BOSTON -- Jose Bautista took a home run away from Boston's Rusney Castillo with a spectacular highlight-reel catch in right field on Saturday afternoon at Fenway Park.

Toronto had a 3-0 lead in the third inning, when Castillo lifted a fly ball to the gap in right-center field off knuckleballer R.A. Dickey. Bautista tracked the ball down and made a leaping catch at the wall to keep Boston off the board.

The short wall in right field meant that Bautista had a somewhat awkward crash into the wall, but he still found a way to hold onto the ball. That left Castillo shaking his head after what the center fielder had thought was his second home run of the year.

Toronto's outfield defense has received a major boost since the return of Bautista. The veteran slugger spent approximately six weeks relegated to designated-hitter duties because of a sore shoulder. But he returned to right on June 2 and hasn't looked back.

"I think he's underrated out there," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. "I don't think he gets the credit he really deserves. When he was DH-ing all that time when he was injured, it was tough on our team.

"He settles things down by being out there. He has been such a big offensive player in the game the last few years, I don't think people really notice his defense as much as they should."
