Hot-hitting Donaldson is AL Player of Week

Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson has been named the American League Player of the Week for the second time in his career after leading the Majors in a number of offensive categories.

Donaldson hit .440 (11-for-25) with 11 runs, six home runs and 11 RBIs over six games to lead all of baseball in runs, homers, RBIs, slugging percentage (1.240) and total bases (31). He also led the AL in batting average and extra-base hits (eight).

Donaldson went 4-for-4 with five runs, two home runs, a double and four RBIs in the Blue Jays' 10-9 win against the White Sox on Tuesday, becoming the first player in Toronto club history to record at least four hits, four RBIs and five runs in a single game.

Donaldson's three-run homer in the ninth inning of that game was the sixth walk-off homer of his career and his second of the year. He became the fifth player in Blue Jays history to record at least two walk-off homers in a single year. Five of Donaldson's 15 long balls this year (and 18 of his 77 career homers) have come after the eighth inning.

On Friday, Donaldson homered in his fourth straight game for the first time in his career. He's the first Toronto player to do that since Jose Bautista did it in five consecutive games in August of last year.
