Mark Buehrle & Melky Cabrera named Honda Co-Player Of The Month

TORONTO BLUE JAYS LHP MARK BUEHRLE & OF MELKY CABRERA will share the HONDA PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARD for April as selected by the TORONTO CHAPTER of the BBWAA. Honda, the official vehicle of the Blue Jays, will make a donation to the charities selected by Mark and Melky.

BUEHRLE, 35, posted a 4-1 record in five starts with a 2.16 ERA. In his first four starts of the season he was 4-0 with a 0.69 ERA after allowing two earned runs in 28.0 innings pitched making it the best start for any Blue Jays starter in club history after four starts. It marks the first time a Blue Jays pitcher has won the award since July, 2012 (Villanueva).

CABRERA, 29, led Major League Baseball with 41 hits in March/April and posted a .342 batting average with 15 extra base hits and 11 RBI. He becomes the first Blue Jay to lead the league in hits for any month since Aaron Hill opened the 2007 season (38 hits). The switch-hitting outfielder is the only player in club history to have recorded a hit in 25 of the club's first 26 games in any one season.  

OF Jose Bautista (.293, 8HR, 18RBI, 30BB) was third in the voting.
