Atlanta Braves enter agreement to purchase Genuine Parts co. site

Team also announces long term partnership extension with Genuine's NAPA AUTO PARTS

The Atlanta Braves today announced an agreement to purchase the land that currently houses the headquarters of Genuine Parts Company, which neighbors SunTrust Park and the Braves' mixed-use development site. Additionally, the club announced that it has signed a long-term partnership extension with NAPA AUTO PARTS.

"We are excited to have entered into this agreement with the Braves and welcome them to the neighborhood. Likewise, they have been a great partner and we are thrilled to further extend our partnership," said Tom Gallagher, Chairman and CEO of Genuine Parts Company. "Our move will allow us to remain nearby in Cobb County and will create a corporate campus feel for all of our associates. We are pleased that our longtime home will help expand the footprint of the Braves development and also help to enhance the fan experience. We can't wait for Opening Day of 2017."

The 9.5-acre parcel sits to the north of the land purchased by the organization in 2013 and brings the total land controlled by the club to more than 90 acres. The parcel will sit just .4 miles from SunTrust Park's home plate, a distance comparable to that of the Blue Lot from Turner Field. The Braves are evaluating different options for the property as part of their comprehensive parking and transportation planning around the new development.

The team also announced that it has signed a long-term partnership extension with NAPA, which has been a partner with the organization since the team moved to Turner Field in 1997. The multi-year agreement will include activation options at both Turner Field and SunTrust Park.

"We have had such an incredible relationship with Genuine Parts and NAPA for many years and we are pleased that it will continue for years to come," said Mike Plant, Atlanta Braves Executive Vice President of Business Operations. "We began discussions following their decision to consolidate operations in Cobb County, which culminated in a contract to purchase the property when they vacate. This property is going to complement our overall development and play a major role in providing our fans, residents and customers with a positive parking and transportation experience."

SunTrust Park and the mixed-use development will open by Opening Day 2017.
