ATLANTA (September 21, 2018) -- In a pregame ceremony last night, the Atlanta Braves Foundation announced it has contributed $315,000 to charities in Braves Country, and will award 29 local non-profit organizations with grants to fund their 2018-19 initiatives.
"The Braves Foundation strives to support the local community through as many channels as possible," said Adrian Williams, senior director of diversity and community. "Giving back to those in Braves Country is extremely important to the Braves and we are proud to announce that $315,000 will be donated to organizations in our community."
The Atlanta Braves Foundation is the non-profit arm of the Atlanta Braves, and raises money throughout the year through various initiatives such as a 50/50 raffle, ballpark and online auctions, Braves License Plate program, SunTrust Park Brick Paver Program, an annual golf tournament and more. Since its inception in 1994, the Braves Foundation has contributed $7.5 million in financial and in-kind assistance to community organizations. Through the generous support of Braves players and staff, sponsors and fans, the Atlanta Braves Foundation continuously strives to improve the quality of life for our youth.

Summary of the 2018 Atlanta Braves Foundation Grants recipients and initiatives:
1. 100 Black Men of Atlanta will support the after-school program and summer STEM/Robotics program.
2. A Friend's House will support recreational activities for youth in Henry County.
3. Advocates for Children will provide funding for team sports, sporting equipment, and social activities for children living in shelters.
4. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta will support new mentoring matches between youth and adults.
5. Camp Sunshine will support Camp Sunshine's Summer Camp programs that are provided free of charge each year to any child who has cancer.
6. The Center for Pan Asian Community Services will support the after-school and summer school programs in Doraville and Chamblee areas.
7. Children's Healthcare of Atlanta will support the Summer Camp Program for children with unique medical conditions and physical needs.
8. Cobb County Bar Association Community Fund will provide emergency financial assistance to students, and their families in Cobb County and Marietta City Schools.
9. Cobb County Public Schools Education Fund will provide funding for teachers to implement innovative projects in the classroom.
10. Cobb Police Athletic League will support the expansion of Cobb PAL sports programs in purchasing equipment and supplies.
11. Communities in Schools - Marietta/Cobb County will support students in grades K-12 in Cobb County and Marietta City School Districts with the Dropout Prevention Program.
12. Cure Childhood Cancer will provide meals to hospitalized cancer-stricken children and families through their Open Arms Program.
13. Everybody Wins! Atlanta will fund the Power Lunch program at Dunbar and Brumby Elementary Schools, including new books and supplies.
14. Extra Special People will provide uniforms and baseball equipment for people with special needs participating in the inaugural Miracle League season in Watkinsville, GA.
15. Georgia Lions Camp for the Blind will support purchasing recreational equipment for the visually impaired community.
16. Girls Scouts of Greater Mississippi will support the Girl Scout Leadership Experience for underserved girls that focuses on the Girl Scout anti-bullying campaign and provides hands-on STEM Badge Activities.
17. Girls Incorporated of Greater Atlanta will inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold through the implementation of SMART - Science, Math, and Relevant Technology program that will nurture girls interest in STEM jobs.
18. LEAD will operate an organized fall baseball league for inner-city youth and cover the costs of equipment, uniforms, and umpire fees.
19. La Amistad will support the after-school program through the purchase of materials such as classroom supplies, snacks, and books.
20. Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation will build a garden at an Atlanta area school, educating and empowering students in the areas of fitness, nutrition, and total wellness.
21. Must Ministries will support food pantries that serve 24 Cobb County schools and impact over 20,000 children.
22. Tommy Nobis Center will support the Early Youth Employment Services program for students with disabilities in Cobb schools.
23. Sweetwater Mission will purchase school supplies, backpacks, and winter coats for children in need.
24. The Giving Kitchen will provide financial assistance to restaurants workers in crisis with children.
25. The Path Project will support technology resources for students in Gwinnett County Schools participating in after-school programs.
26. The Study Hall will provide a STEM program and after-school program for students K-5 in the Turner Field neighborhoods.
27. The Villages at Carver Family YMCA will support the youth baseball initiatives at the Atlanta Braves Baseball Academy.
28. Youth Empowerment Through Learning, Leading and Serving will provide program supplies for their mentoring and afterschool programs.
29. YMCA of Rome and Floyd County will fund the Learn, Grow, & Thrive with the Y, a year-round, free outreach after-school & summer feeding and enrichment program.
