Braves Agree to Terms with Jim Johnson on One-Year Contract

ATLANTA - The Atlanta Braves have agreed to terms with free-agent right-handed pitcher Jim Johnson on a one-year Major League contract. Financial terms of the deal were not announced.
 
Johnson, 31, went a combined 5-2 in 54 appearances with the Oakland Athletics and Detroit Tigers last season. He was signed by Detroit on August 5 and fanned 14 batters over 13.0 innings after joining the Tigers.  

Over nine Major League seasons, Johnson owns a 23-28 record with a 3.57 ERA and 124 saves over 414 appearances (one start). Johnson, a 2012 American League All-Star, led the majors with back-to-back 50-save seasons in 2012 (51) and 2013 (50). 

Johnson was originally selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the fifth round of the 2001 draft and has made Major League appearances with the Orioles, Athletics and Tigers.
