ST. LOUIS -- The Braves claimed Orioles pitcher Chaz Roe off waivers from the Orioles on Sunday.
The 29-year-old was designated for assignment on July 29 and allowed four runs in 9 2/3 innings this season.
"I like him a lot," Braves interim manager Brian Snitker said. "We talked to some guys in Baltimore and they really like him. He had a good year last year for the Orioles. He'll come right in and help and be a factor in our bullpen."
Roe pitched 41 1/3 innings with a 4.14 ERA and had a strikeout rate of 8.27 last season with the Orioles. He allowed 19 runs in 36 appearances with 17 walks and four home runs.
A first-round Draft pick of the Rockies in 2005, Roe did not appear in the Majors until 2013, with the D-backs, when he had a 4.03 ERA in 21 games and 22 1/3 innings.
Roe is scheduled to join the Braves' bullpen Monday in Milwaukee. He provides another relief arm for Atlanta, which traded Hunter Cervenka to the Marlins on Saturday and selected the contract of Madison Younginer on Sunday as well.
