Jenista, who bats left-handed and throws right-handed, entered the draft ranked by Baseball America as the 29th overall prospect. He was named the MVP of the Cape Cod League last summer after batting .310/.391/.401.

Jenista is the highest collegiate outfielder drafted by Atlanta since 1991, when the club selected Mike Kelly second overall out of Arizona State University.
Atlanta drafted RHP Carter Stewart from Eau Gaillie High School in Melbourne, Fla., eighth overall with its first selection tonight. The Braves' next pick is 112 overall in the fourth round tomorrow afternoon. The club will then select eighth in each round through the draft's conclusion.
