Braves deal Beckham to Giants for Minor Leaguer

September 27th, 2016

ATLANTA -- will spend the final days of this season attempting to help the Giants secure a postseason berth.
Beckham's tenure with the Braves ended Tuesday night when the Braves traded him to the Giants in exchange for Minor League infielder Rich Rodriguez.
Though Beckham will not be eligible for the postseason, the Giants targeted the veteran infielder to serve as insurance while third baseman deals with a hamstring strain.
Beckham batted .217 with five home runs and a .655 OPS in 85 games for the Braves this year. The veteran infielder has hit just .158 with a .499 OPS since the All-Star break.
Rodriguez has compiled a .264 batting average while totaling 263 games over six Minor League seasons. The 23-year-old infielder has played just one game above the Class A Advanced level.
