Parraz's home run sparks five-run inning to sink Nats

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Jordan Parraz's leadoff home run fueled a five-run sixth inning that carried the Braves to a 9-5 win over the Nationals at Champion Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Evan Gattis followed Parraz's game-tying home run with a double that put him in position to score on Freddie Freeman's go-ahead single. Juan Francisco capped his two-hit game with an RBI single against Nationals right-hander Ryan Perry, who allowed four hits and issued two walks while facing six batters in the decisive fifth inning.

Bryce Harper led the Nationals with three hits, including a double off Mike Minor in Washington's two-run first inning. Harper also singled and scored on Ian Desmond's go-ahead single against Dusty Hughes in the top of the fifth inning.

Justin Upton and B.J. Upton recorded RBI singles against Ross Detwiler in the Braves' two-run third inning. After limiting the Braves to one hit in the first two innings, Detwiler allowed four hits -- all singles -- while facing just six batters in the third. The left-hander was charged with five hits and two runs while completing 2 2/3 innings in his Grapefruit League debut.

Minor threw 28 pitches while allowing three hits and issuing two walks in the first inning. The Braves left-hander needed just 10 pitches to complete his first outing of the year with a perfect second inning.

Braves Up Next: Tim Hudson will make his second start of the Grapefruit League season when the Braves travel to Lakeland to play the Tigers on Wednesday at 1:05 p.m. ET. Hudson tossed two scoreless innings against the Tigers on Friday. While the starting outfielders will get the day off, Dan Uggla and Freddie Freeman are scheduled to make the trip. Prospects J.R. Graham and Alex Wood are scheduled to make relief appearances.
