Albies adds name beside Aaron's in Braves lore

Second baseman just 3rd in team history to hit milestone before All-Star break

July 7th, 2018

MILWAUKEE -- can now say Hank Aaron is the only other Braves player to tally 50 extra-bases sooner than he has in a season.
Albies increased his National League-leading extra-base hits total to 50 with the first-inning double he recorded in Friday night's 5-4 loss to the Brewers at Miller Park. The franchise's only other players to reach this mark before the All-Star break were Aaron and Darrell Evans.
Albies has constructed strong All-Star credentials, and he's reached this milestone through 87 games. Aaron reached this mark through the first 70 games of the 1959 season. Evans needed 100 games to earn the distinction in '73.
Albies' latest double came courtesy of the hustle he showed when he raced to second on an opposite-field liner that landed in front of left fielder . scored when second baseman Brad Miller did not handle Braun's throw to retire Albies, who was thrown out attempting to reach third base on the play.
