Brewers events set for Waukesha tragedy aid

In light of the tragedy at this weekend’s Waukesha Christmas Parade, the Milwaukee Brewers, in partnership with American Family Insurance, the Pabst Theater Group, Colectivo Coffee and Magic of Lights, are raising money to support the United for Waukesha Community Fund, the newly-created fund to support those impacted by the catastrophe.

David Stearns, Craig Counsell and Freddy Peralta will lead a contingent of Brewers personnel in hosting fans for coffee Wednesday morning at The Back Room at Colectivo Coffee. The group will be available for fans one-on-one to talk baseball and raise funds for those affected. The Brewers are encouraging fans to make donations to benefit those impacted by the tragic event (details below). The event is free and open to the public.

Further, a $10 donation will be made by Brewers Community Foundation, and matched by American Family Insurance, for each car that comes through the inaugural Magic of Lights at American Family Field from this Wednesday through Friday. The Magic of Lights is presented by American Family Insurance, which is also making a direct contribution of $50,000 to the United for Waukesha Community Fund.

“Our hearts ache for the victims of yesterday’s senseless tragedy,” said Brewers President – Baseball Operations David Stearns. “This is a time for our community to come together and support one another in any way we can.”

Join Milwaukee Brewers for Coffee
Tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 23 from 7:30 a.m. – 9 a.m.
The Back Room at Colectivo Coffee, 2211 N. Prospect Ave, Milwaukee

The Pabst Theater Group and Colectivo Coffee are partnering with the Milwaukee Brewers to invite fans to come talk baseball over coffee and support the victims of yesterday’s tragic event. Join Pitcher Freddy Peralta; President – Baseball Operations David Stearns; Manager Craig Counsell, Brewers Broadcasters Bill Schroeder and Sophia Minnaert and others from 7:30 a.m. – 9 a.m. Fans are encouraged to bring a donation (cash or check) to Brewers Community Foundation. Those donations will be matched personally by David Stearns and all funds will be directed to support the United for Waukesha Community Fund. Representatives onsite will be available for interviews and the event is open to the public, free of charge. Please note: The Brewers ask that fans refrain from asking for autographs, but photos will be allowed.

Magic of Lights
Starting Wednesday, Nov. 24
The inaugural Magic of Lights, presented by American Family Insurance, begins at American Family Field on Wednesday, Nov. 24 and runs daily from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. For each car that comes through the Magic of Lights through Friday, a $10 donation will be made by Brewers Community Foundation and matched by American Family Insurance and Magic of Lights, up to $10,000.

“American Family has many customers, employees and agency owners in Waukesha, and our hearts go out to all affected by this terrible tragedy,” said Seth Freeman, American Family brand and marketing experience associate vice president. “We want to show our support for them and the Waukesha community.”

“At this time of unbelievable tragedy, we want to do our best to do whatever we can to show up for and help our neighbors," said Pabst Theater Group President and CEO Gary Witt. “We encourage everyone in our community to use this moment to choose to be kinder and more compassionate to one another, especially the victims of yesterday’s tragedy."

“There are no words to express how saddened we are by this tragedy,” said Colectivo Coffee Owner Paul Miller. “It’s times like this that we need to unite with friends and neighbors to help those in need.”

The United for Waukesha Community Fund was created by the United Way for Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County, in partnership with the Waukesha Education Foundation and Waukesha County Community Foundation.
