The Milwaukee Brewers today were presented with the "Community Partner of the Year Award" by the Milwaukee Business Journal. The presentation was made this morning at the publication's Corporate Citizenship Summit, with the award accepted by Brewers Community Foundation Executive Director Cecelia Gore.

According to the Business Journal, the Brewers were presented with the honor for the organization's "push to increase its outreach into the community and its many successes, including work with Sojourner Family Peace Center, Habitat for Humanity, Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, Pearls for Teen Girls and bringing baseball to the youth of the community."

The Brewers, through the Club's Community Relations department and Brewers Community Foundation, are involved in numerous philanthropic events throughout the community. Most recently, the team hosted the "Give Back Game," where ticket proceeds from the final home game on Sept. 25 were donated to four different charities: Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, the MACC Fund and the Wisconsin Humane Society. More than $335,000 was raised and donated to these causes.

"Our players, wives and staff are passionate about giving back and making a positive impact in the communities where we live, work and play," said Katina Shaw, Senior Director of Community Relations for the Brewers. "On behalf of everyone at the Brewers and Brewers Community Foundation, we are proud to receive the Community Partner of the Year Award and we will continue to go to bat for kids and families in Wisconsin."

When owner Mark Attanasio purchased the team in 2005, one of his four cornerstone pledges was to be a leader in the community. To that end, Brewers Community Foundation has donated over $10 million to community causes since its inception in 2010.
