Over the past 16 years, the Milwaukee Brewers have regularly made improvements to Miller Park. On Wednesday, the club unveiled its most significant undertaking since the ballpark opened, including a complete overhaul of the food and beverage experience for fans.
"This is the culmination of a lot of hard work and creativity by a lot of people," Brewers chief operating officer Rick Schlesinger said. "Whenever you have something as a vision and it becomes a reality, it is a good day. I could not be more pleased or proud of our group and our partners for putting it together."
Funded by Brewers ownership and hospitality and food service company Delaware North, the project features redesigned concession stands throughout the ballpark, the addition of 11 new concession stands in the "First Base Ward" and "Third Base Ward" on the Field Level and three new full-service bars.
"It was overdue, frankly," Schlesinger said. "We have done a lot of things to the ballpark, but food and beverage reformation was needed. Just touring other ballparks and going to other sporting events, the food and beverage experience was elevated, and we needed to elevate it here.
"We just didn't want to dip our toe in the water, but we wanted to do the full dive and do every level of the ballpark completely gangbusters."
A major emphasis of the redesign was working with local establishments, as the Brewers partnered with Hospitality Democracy to feature Milwaukee businesses AJ Bombers (burgers), Smoke Shack (barbeque), Zaffiro's (pizza) and a new line of J. Agave's tacos throughout Miller Park.
Other new concession items include three different kinds of macaroni and cheese, a hot pastrami sandwich, a fire-braised turkey breast sandwich, Sargento Wisconsin fried cheese curds, three varieties of baked potatoes, nachos, a Bavarian Pretzel, pizza bread, mini corn dogs and custard.
The three new full-service bars will feature offerings from MillerCoors and Leinenkugel's and the "Local Brewers" bar on the loge level will serve Wisconsin beers on tap, including 24 varieties on Opening Day.
"People in Milwaukee and Wisconsin are foodies," Schlesinger said. "The culinary experience in Milwaukee has been elevated to a tremendous level. We needed to step up our game and match it.
"One of the things our fans have said is that they like some of the staples, but they wanted to see local. They wanted to see the products they buy and consume here in restaurants in Milwaukee and Wisconsin. When people come here they are going to recognize the brands and products."
