Prospect Haniger has two-homer game at Double-A

Outfielder Mitch Haniger, rated the Brewers' No. 5 prospect by, hit two home runs Wednesday and led Double-A Huntsville to a 7-5 victory against Jackson. It was the first multihomer game of Haniger's career.

Haniger hit his first home run, a solo shot, in the second inning and then added a three-run blast in the fifth. He finished the game 3-for-4 with four RBIs.

After hitting .193 in 25 games in April, Haniger has turned his season around at the plate. He is hitting .305 in 31 games since the calendar flipped to May. Overall, he is hitting .257 with a .708 OPS and six home runs.

Right-hander David Goforth, who learned a day earlier that he was one of eight Huntsville players selected to go to the Southern League North Division All-Star Game, pitched two scoreless innings for the save. The Brewers' No. 13 prospect ranks eighth in the Minor Leagues with 13 saves this season.
