Pipeline Preview: Hoskins looks to continue tear

May 19th, 2017

Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Hitter to watch: Rhys Hoskins (Phillies' No. 13), Lehigh Valley at Syracuse (6:35 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Hoskins drove in five runs with a pair of home runs for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday, though it wasn't enough to keep the IronPigs from falling to Rochester, 10-8, to end their 12-game winning streak. The 24-year-old first baseman's multi-homer performance was his second of the season and gives him three in his past two games. Hoskins now owns a share of the Minor League lead with 12 homers, as well as a .343/.430/.709 slash line through 40 games.

Pitcher to watch: Chance Adams (Yankees' No. 7), Scranton/Wilkes-Barre vs. Rochester (6:35 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Set to make his second start for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Adams, MLBPipeline.com's No. 99 overall prospect, fired five scoreless frames to record the win in his May 14 Triple-A debut. He allowed two hits, walked three and struck out six, throwing 57 of his 97 pitches for strikes in the performance. Adams, 22, was bumped up to Triple-A after going 4-0 with a 1.03 ERA and a .183 batting average against over 35 innings (six starts).

Duel of the day: (White Sox No. 10) vs. (Brewers' No. 19), Winston-Salem vs. Carolina (Class A Advanced)
Dunning, 22, will look to get back on track after struggling in two straight starts for Class A Advanced Winston-Salem. He allowed three earned runs in each outing but also worked a total of 6 1/3 innings and issued seven walks. Dunning still has been excellent overall, posting a 1.69 ERA with a 0.91 WHIP, a .178 opponents' average and a 51-to-10 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 37 1/3 innings (seven starts) between Class A Kannapolis and Winston-Salem.

Peralta's stock is on the rise this season thanks to his strong start for Carolina. Working in a tandem starting rotation opposite (Brewers' No. 11), the 20-year-old righty has pitched to a 3.00 ERA over seven appearances (three starts) totaling 30 innings, with 47 strikeouts and a .191 batting average against.
