The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that shortstop Rafael Furcal will undergo right elbow surgery next week.  Dr. James Andrews, who examined Furcal yesterday, is scheduled to perform “Tommy John” surgery on the three-time All-Star.

Cardinals Senior Vice President/General Manager John Mozeliak and Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny will be available to discuss the announcement during the team’s morning stretch at Roger Dean Stadium.
