Cardinals disable Yadier Molina and Shane Robinson

Adron Chambers and Brock Peterson recalled from Memphis (AAA)

The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have placed All-Star catcher Yadier Molina (right knee sprain) and outfielder Shane Robinson (right shoulder strain) on the 15-day disabled list.

The team has recalled outfielder Adron Chambers and first baseman/outfielder Brock Peterson from Memphis for tonight's game in Pittsburgh.

Chambers, 26, enjoyed a four-hit game last night against Tucson, raising his July batting mark to .354 (29-for-82). The left-handing hitting Chambers is batting .252 (82-for-326) overall this season at Memphis, hitting 8 home runs and collecting 42 RBI. His 15 stolen bases are 2nd on the team to Kolten Wong (17). Chambers has appeared in 59 games in the majors the past two seasons (2011-12), hitting a combined .242 (15-for-62) with three triples and eight RBI. He was also on the Cardinals postseason roster each of the past two seasons.

Peterson, 29, hit his Pacific Coast League-leading 23rd homer last night in Memphis' win over Tucson. The right-handed hitting Peterson made his Major League debut earlier this month (July 20), appearing in five games for the Cardinals. He was batting .305 in 96 games at Memphis with 67 RBI.

The Cardinals optioned pitcher Tyler Lyons to Memphis following his start last night after utilizing him in last night's double-header under Major League Baseball's 26th man rule.

Chambers will wear uniform #56 and Peterson #41.
