The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that Ron Watermon, the team's Vice-President of Communications, has left the Cardinals to write a book, teach and form a communications company that will help brands develop and implement their own brand journalism strategies.
"While I will be forever grateful for nearly 17 years with the Cardinals, it is time for me to write a new chapter in my life," said Ron Watermon, President & CEO of Brand Journalism Strategies, LLC. "I am going to miss working everyday with my friends, but I'm really excited about helping others share their own unique stories using brand journalism."
Watermon has formed Brand Journalism Strategies, LLC, to help companies take advantage of some of the same pioneering brand journalism and brand engagement strategies the Cardinals have used to inform and engage fans in recent years.
"We appreciate the contributions Ron made to the organization during his tenure with the Cardinals," said Bill DeWitt III, President of the St. Louis Cardinals. "From innovative fan engagement campaigns like "Stand for Stan" to his role in developing our Cardinals Insider video unit and our customized digital archive, Ron has demonstrated that he is an innovative thinker in the realm of corporate communications."
