May 10th, 2022

Do you prefer to see a developing player provide some pop or flash game-changing, never-slumping speed?

Either way, Tuesday's matchup between Double-A Amarillo and Springfield has plenty to offer, and it's free on MLB.TV.

A pair of Top 100 talents step into the spotlight at 12:30 ET, as MLB's No. 19 prospect (and Arizona's No. 2), , leads the Sod Poodles against MLB's No. 29 prospect (and St. Louis' No. 1), Jordan Walker, and the Cardinals.

Select Minor League games will be available to stream for free on MLB.TV this season, meaning you can watch some of the game’s top prospects at no cost. And if you like what you see there, all available Minor League games are streamed on MiLB.TV, and you can add that to an existing MLB.TV subscription for only $25.

Tuesday's Texas League matinee will be Carroll's first action since the 21-year-old outfielder posted his second straight two-homer game on Sunday. Nobody is predicting he'll pop off twice more to open the series at Springfield, but then again, why wouldn't he?

The 2019 first-rounder has nine dingers on the year, with six of them coming in the last couple weeks. Complementing his power with 70-grade speed and an advanced approach, Carroll is batting .326 and is in the top 10 in the league in homers (T-2nd), OBP (5th -- .458), slugging (4th -- .695), OPS (4th -- 1.153), total bases (2nd -- 66) and more. He also has eight steals.

Although Walker's 65-grade power has yet to become a major factor this year -- he has one homer through 24 games -- the 19-year-old third baseman has also been one of the circuit's most productive players on offense. Walker, who is the youngest hitter in the Texas League by over a year, put up a .303/.431/.416 slash line, and his 10 stolen bases tie him for fourth in the league.

And both Amarillo's and Springfield's rosters are deeper than their marquee names.

No. 26 Cardinals prospect Julio E. Rodriguez has two homers in his last three games, and Springfield's Moisés Gómez leads all of the Minors with 14 jacks.
