ST. LOUIS -- Hall of Fame manager Dorrel “Whitey” Herzog suffered a minor stroke on Monday during his charity golf tournament, the Cardinals announced Tuesday afternoon.

The Cardinals’ statement said that Herzog has received treatment, is currently resting and is doing well.

“Whitey is hoping for a quick recovery, and he and his family are very appreciative of the caring support that everyone has shown them,” the statement said.

Herzog won three National League pennants as a manager with the Cardinals, with a World Series title in 1982. He was also the general manager for the 1981 and 1982 seasons. He finished his managerial career in 1990 with a 1,281-1,125 record (822-728 with the Cardinals) and he was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in 2010.
