Cardinals announce Wild Card Game roster

20 players with past postseason experience and five rookies on roster

LOS ANGELES, CA., October 6, 2021 – The St. Louis Cardinals have announced their 26-player active roster for tonight’s National League Wild Card game against the Los Angeles Dodgers that is set for 7:10 p.m. CDT/5:10 p.m. PDT. The Cardinals will be playing in their second one-game N.L. Wild Card game, last doing so in 2012 when they defeated the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field.

The team’s Wild Card game roster includes 20 players with past postseason experience, five rookies and 10 players who were not on the team’s active roster for Opening Day. Seventeen of the 26 players on the roster were developed within the Cardinals organization. 

The team also announced that is has designated for assignment RHP Seth Elledge and selected the contract of 1B Juan Yepez from Memphis (AAA). Yepez’ postseason eligibility comes as an injury replacement for infielder Max Moroff.

The following is the Cardinals 2021 National League Wild Card Game active roster:

PITCHERS (12): Gėnesis Cabrera-LHP, Jack Flaherty-RHP, Giovanny Gallegos-RHP, Luis Garcia-RHP, Dakota Hudson-RHP, Kwang Hyun Kim-LHP, T.J McFarland-LHP, Miles Mikolas-RHP, Andrew Miller-LHP, Alex Reyes-RHP, Adam Wainwright-RHP, Kodi Whitley-RHP;

CATCHERS (2): Andrew Knizner and Yadier Molina;

INFIELDERS (8): Nolan Arenado, Matt Carpenter, Paul DeJong, Tommy Edman, Paul Goldschmidt, Jose Rondón, Edmundo Sosa and Juan Yepez;

OUTFIELDERS (4): Harrison Bader, Dylan Carlson, Lars Nootbaar and Tyler O’Neill.
