Cubs reduce spring roster to 49 players

The Chicago Cubs today assigned 13 players to minor league camp, reducing their spring roster from 62 to 49 players.

The Chicago Cubs today assigned 13 players to minor league camp, reducing their spring roster from 62 to 49 players.
 
Right-handed pitchers Adbert Alzolay, Oscar De La Cruz and Duane Underwood Jr. have been optioned to Double-A Tennessee. 
 
Ten non-roster invitees have been assigned to minor league camp: Right-handed pitchers Craig Brooks, David Garner, and Thomas Hatch; left-handed pitchers Alberto Baldonado, Daniel Camarena and Michael Roth; infielder Jason Vosler; outfielders Charcer Burks and Bijan Rademacher; and catcher Ian Rice.
 
Chicago's spring roster of 49 players consists of 26 pitchers (three non-roster invitees), five catchers (three non-roster invitees), 12 infielders (four non-roster invitees) and six outfielders (two non-roster invitees).
