7 top moments from Friday's Pirates-Cardinals NLDS Game 2

After losing to the Cardinals in Game 1 of the NLDS on Thursday, the Pirates were looking for some revenge in Game 2 -- and they got it. Behind Gerrit Cole's arm and Pedro Alvarez's bat, the Bucs topped the Cards 7-1. Take it away, GIFs.

With one out in the top of the second, Pedro Alvarez hit a ground-rule double to center field. Cards starter Lance Lynn was then able to strike out Russell Martin, and figured he'd intentionally walk Jody Mercer to get to Gerrit Cole. Pitchers can't hit, right? Whoops.

In the top of the third, El Toro struck again. This time he hit a two-run home run to put Pittsburgh up 3-0.

Marlon Byrd got in on the act the following inning, doubling in Justin Morneau to put the Bucs up by four. Lynn was not happy.

But then, the Cards seemed to show some signs of life. Yadier Molina hit a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth to cut the score to 5-1.

And after a Matt Carpenter walk in the sixth, the Busch Stadium crowd urged on Beltran and Holliday to make something happen. But Gerrit Cole, who allowed just two hits over six innings of work, shot those hopes down.

The Pirates added two more runs on a sacrifice fly in the seventh and this Starling Marte homer in the eighth to push the lead to 7-1:

Finally, it was Shark Tank time. Jason Grilli finished off the proceedings with a strike out.

With the series tied 1-1, it's back to Pittsburgh on Sunday for Game 3.
