The Astros celebrated their home runs Wednesday night by devouring gummy bears

Evan Gattis put the Astros up 6-0 over the A's with this two-run dinger off the left-field foul pole in the fifth inning:

He celebrated by condemning a family of gummy bears to the depths of his cavernous maw:

… Yep. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound, 29-year-old Gattis ate gummy bears after his home run.

And it wasn't just Gattis. The Astros as a team celebrated their homers Wednesday night with gummy bears, on the way to an 11-5 win. Because … why not? I've never really thought about it, but there's no reason every MLB home run shouldn't be followed immediately with a handful of gummies. 

This could be a huge breakthrough in player motivation. Some players -- Carlos Gomez, I'm looking at you -- got really into it.

I mean, everyone loves gummy bears. And it seems fitting that the Astros also tied the MLB record for having the most players reach double-digit homer totals in a season on Wednesday night:
