Astros' Honorary Bat Girl recognized for her strength

Earlier this month, the Astros hosted the team's annual Pink In the Park Brunch and Bazaar to raise funds the Methodist Cancer Center's fight against breast cancer. In addition, all MLB teams went to bat against breast cancer on Mother's Day with players wearing pink wristbands, ribbon decals and bats.

Part of the "Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer" effort included MLB's Honorary Bat Girl contest. Across the country, cancer survivors were nominated for this honor. Each team recognized one extraordinary survivor through a panel of judges and fan voting to serve as its Honorary Bat Girl. The Astros' winner, Kim Goodwin, was recognized before Monday's game. Her story of inspiration and strength embodies the message of hope behind "Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer" and the Astros' Pink in the Park Campaign.
