Astros offer fans a chance to join next season's radio broadcast

On Friday afternoon, Astros team president and CEO George Postolos announced a new opportunity for fans.

As part of the "You Make the Call" Radio Apprentice Contest, fans can enter for the opportunity to fill a newly-created radio broadcast role for the 2013 season. The winner will conduct pre and postgame interviews, cover press conferences and serve as a roving reporter during games.

"We listen to our fans, and they talk to us all the time about finding new ways to participate and connect with the team," Postolos said. "We can't think of any better way to to do that then to actually give them a chance to tell the story of their Houston Astros by participating in the radio broadcast."

Astros fans will account for half of the contestant's total score in the competition, and the judges will account for the other half.

"The basis around this contest is really to provide another avenue for fan engagement," marketing manager Christie Miller said. "Really, we are just looking for somebody that is a good communicator, has a great personality, is energetic, loves our Astros and is really able to connect with our fans."

The deadline to RSVP for your shot at radio glory is Aug. 7, so make sure you sign up soon.
