Babe becomes a Brave 77 years ago today

Every one knows that George Herman "Babe" Ruth played for the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees.

Did you know he also signed with the Boston Braves in 1935 as a player, coach and team vice-president?

The Sultan of Swat played one year for the Braves. He appeared in 28 games and hit six homers. In his first home game in Boston since being traded from the Red Sox, Ruth accounted for all of the Braves runs in a 4-2 win over the New York Giants.

On May 25 at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh, the Bambino hit the last three home runs of his career, going 4-for-4 with six RBIs in an 11-7 loss to the Pirates.

This was his final year as a player in the Majors. A year later, Ruth was one of the first five players inducted into the Hall of Fame.
