New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio proclaimed Saturday to be David Wright Day

NEW YORK, NY - SEPTEMBER 28: David Wright #5 of the New York Mets waves to the crowd after grounding out as a pinch hitter during the fifth inning against the Miami Marlins at Citi Field on September 28, 2018 in the Flushing neighborhood of the Queens borough of New York City. After pinch-hitting on Friday night against the Marlins, David Wright will start on Saturday night. His 2-year-old daughter, Olivia, will throw out the first pitch to her grandfather, Wright's dad. The team has organized a postgame tribute and ceremony.
But Citi Field isn't the only place New York's longtime third baseman will be honored: New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has proclaimed Sept. 29, 2018, to be David Wright Day.

"As a seven-time All-Star, two-time Gold Glove winner, 30-30 club member and the 2013 Mets team captain," the letter reads, "Wright -- or "Captain America," as he became known after his outstanding performance in the 2013 World Baseball Classic -- has contributed much to America's pastime and is beloved by Mets fans the world over."
Couldn't have said it any better ourselves.
