Brad Ausmus was spotted using a walkie talkie on Tuesday night

In the seventh inning of the Tigers' 6-2 loss to the Astros on Tuesday, Brad Ausmus was caught using a walkie talkie in the dugout. It's not the most common accessory for a manager.
Perhaps the bullpen phone was down and Ausmus was making do with the best available option. After all, Ausmus said after the game that he brought Jordan Zimmermann back out for the seventh inning because he wanted to make sure Alex Wilson had enough time to warm up. Maybe there had been a breakdown in communication.

But maybe, just maybe, Ausmus is like every child and thinks walkie talkies are the coolest. We can only imagine what the conversation was like with bullpen coach Mick Billmeyer.
Ausmus: KKKKZZZZZ Breaker breaker niner, this is base station coming in from the big ol' orange juice box. Looks like we got a sleeper, so let's get a fresh pair, yeah? Over.
Billmeyer: WHAT?
Ausmus: What are you, an alligator radio? I said KKKKZZZZZZ. Breaker breaker niner, this is base station. Need a gas jockey to take on the rock pile. Over.
Billmeyer: Sigh ... are you playing CB Radio again, Brad? Do you want Wilson to start warming up?
Ausmus:
Billmeyer: I meant, are you chuckling it up on the whatzit? And you want ... I dunno ... a flapjack hurler getting warm? Uh, over.
Ausmus: Big 10-4. Over and out.
We can only hope that this is the start of a baseball remake of "Smokey and the Bandit."
