Brandon McCarthy strikes out the side on nine pitches in immaculate inning for Yankees
Back when the Yankees acquired veteran starter Brandon McCarthy ahead of the non-waiver Trade Deadline, it was McCarthy's wife who was most excited about the deal because it meant her husband had to shave his face.
Twelve starts later and Yankee fans are also feeling pretty decent about that particular move.
McCarthy had posted a 6-4 record and a 2.54 ERA over 78 innings for the Yanks heading into Wednesday night's contest with the Rays and he managed to improve those marks, earning another win while surrendering only four hits and two runs in seven innings of work.
The exclamation point on McCarthy's evening was his immaculate seventh inning in which he struck out Wil Myers, Nick Franklin and Matt Joyce in order and needed only nine pitches to do so.
So, that trade seems to be working out for the Yankees, huh?
