Throwback Photo of the Day: Brooks Robinson blew bubbles as well as he could defend third base

Brooks Robinson is widely regarded as one of -- if not the -- best fielding third basemen of all time. The Hall of Famer won 16 straight Gold Glove Awards for manning the hot corner, accumulated more putouts than any third baseman in baseball history (his record still stands) and earned himself the nickname "The Human Vacuum Cleaner."
Turns out he could blow bubbles with the best of 'em, too.
The above photo was taken in 1969. By that point, Robinson had already won an AL MVP Award ('64), helped the O's win the World Series ('66) and earned nine straight All-Star appearances and nine straight Gold Glove Awards.
The 1970 World Series against the Reds featured one of Robinson's shining moments. Robinson backhanded a sharp ground ball down the line and fired to first without setting his feet to get the out in Game 1:

In case you think that looks familiar, the Orioles managed to find another guy with similar abilities ...

And, yes, Machado's got his gum game on point, too.

We'd say all that's left is for Machado to win a Gold Glove and have Robinson pass him the torch, but, well ...
