Of COURSE Bryce Harper's 500th career hit was a home run

Bryce Harper hits HR for 500th career hit

Bryce Harper is not faster than a speeding bullet. Bryce Harper is not more powerful than a locomotive (though it's probably closer than the train would like to admit). Bryce Harper cannot leap tall buildings in a single bound.

But Bryce Harper can mash enough home runs to make up for those mortal shortcomings, so it's no surprise that that's what he did to earn his 500th career MLB hit.

The homer -- his 33rd this season and the 88th of his career -- came in the third inning of a Nationals win over the Braves.

He added two doubles and two runs-scored because he's Bryce Harper and he can.

Hit No. 500 came in Harper's 485th career game. Below, you'll find a full list of the only players in baseball history to reach that mark before their 23rd birthday:

- Hank Aaron (HOF)
- Johnny Bench (HOF)
- Starlin Castro (Not yet eligible)
- Orlando Cepeda (HOF)

- Ken Griffey Jr. (Eligible in 2016)
