The Mets' 1967 bullpen car sold for a whopping $112,500

Quick, picture what a $100,000 car looks like it in your mind. Are you thinking of some kind of flashy Italian sportscar? A self-driving Google car? The SHIELD helicarrier? 

Well, you may want to adjust your expectations slightly. The Mets' 1967 bullpen car, resembling a kind of baseball-shaped bubble topped with a ballcap, sold for $112,500 to be exact. Expected to fetch only between $20-30,000, the cart still looks like a bargain despite roughly costing the same as a jetpack. And no, this is not an April Fool's prank: 

Sold as part of a New York-themed auction by Sotheby's on Wednesday, Reggie Jackson wasn't quite so lucky. Looking to sell the 10-foot-tall "Yankee Stadium" letters that originally hung outside the park from 1976 to 2008, Mr. October was unable find a buyer. Maybe he should have put them on wheels. 

As for any teams out there, you may want to check the basement for any bullpen carts that have been lost over the years. You could be sitting on a gold mine.
