Dodgers starter Alex Wood had some trouble throwing a pitch on Tuesday

Usually, Major League pitchers have control over their pitches. They can make them slide, slurve, curve, gyro (?), sink, cut and knuckle. But during Tuesday's Dodgers-Phillies game, a baseball had enough of being whipped around without having any say. It has its own needs and desires, too. So, instead of flying toward home plate, it took a stand for baseballs all around the league and shot out in between first base and home plate:

The play was eventually ruled a balk and the Phillies' runners on first and second got to move up a base. And unfortunately for Dodgers fans, Maikel Franco would go on to hit a grand slam two batters later. All because a baseball wanted to exercise some free will.
