Darwin Barney took the extra base with the least elegant slide you'll see

Speedsters like Billy Hamilton and Dee Gordon make slides look easy, but not every baseball player can be quite as slick as them. Take Darwin Barney, for example.
Barney is honestly not even a bad baserunner, but during the Blue Jays' 4-3 victory on Monday over the Orioles, he had an awkward moment. With one out in the bottom of the second, Barney lashed a double to the right-center-field gap.
Then, something strange happened when Adam Jones got to the ball. He tried to throw it, but it slipped out of his hand and toward right fielder Mark Trumbo. Given the opportunity to go to third, Barney went for it. The only problem? His slide was, well, a little funky, and perhaps a tryout for the U.S. Olympic swimming team.

Elegance, thy name is Barney. "Well, yeah, that wasn't real good," manager John Gibbons said to MLB.com's Gregor Chisholm. "I just think he was out of gas. It's late in the year."
Barney took the "slide" in stride. "It wasn't a slide. I was just trying to stop myself I guess," he said. "The fans looked a little bored, I got them on their feet right there."
He sure did. And at least he could laugh it off safely on third!
