Can you figure out which 'fishy' Angels outfielder this 'Jeopardy!' clue refers to?

Let's conduct a thought experiment. First, imagine you're between the ages of 13 and 17. Then imagine you're smart enough to have made it onto this year's edition of the Jeopardy! Teen Tournament. Finally, imagine that during your game you're confronted with the above clue.

What would your response be? Here are some possibilities you may have run through and why they wouldn't be correct:

Tim Salmon: Fishy name? Yes. Angel? Yes. 2012? No. (Though he was Rookie of the Year in 1993.)

Mike Carp: Fishy name? Yes. 2012? Yes. Angel? No.

Gerald Coelacanth Jr.: Fishy name? Yes. 2012? Yes. Angel? Sure, why not. Someone that I did not just make up? No.

Now that we've narrowed down the options somewhat, do you think you can figure it out? If so, pat yourself on the back. None of the three real contestants did.
