Can you hear me now?

Cardinals manager Tony La Russa's phone issues in Game 5 of the World Series have left many wondering: What really got lost in translation on Monday night?

Two times La Russa wanted righty Jason Motte warming and the message was not successfully conveyed to the 'pen. Motte said he wasn't told to get ready until Lance Lynn was walking Ian Kinsler intentionally -- two batters after La Russa would have liked to have him in the ballgame to face Mike Napoli.

Was the crowd at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington simply too loud?

Was the bullpen coach too distracted by his game of Angry Birds?

Or was it something else entirely?
