Carlos Gomez was feeling generous so he left Billy Hamilton some gum out in center field

Carlos Gomez leaves gum, note for Hamilton in CF

'Tis the season for giving. Well, it is if you believe in Half Christmas or Christmas in July or some other such mid-summer ode to the actual season for giving. No matter what you celebrate, you should at least be able to appreciate the kindness displayed by Carlos Gomez on Saturday.

The Brewers were visiting the Reds for an Independence Day matinee when Gomez went out of his way to thank his opposite number -- speedster Billy Hamilton -- for his hospitality in the Great American Ballpark outfield.

When the bottom of the third inning concluded, Gomez left a note and a handful of gum in the outfield grass for Hamilton to discover when he took the field to start the fourth:

While the contents of the note may be lost to time, we're holding out hope that Hamilton at least pays the effort forward. The Reds visit DC to play the Nationals early next week, so maybe Denard Span has a little something heading his way.
