Chris Archer proved he's MLB's top broadcasting prospect during the AL Wild Card Game
Chris Archer aces broadcast performance
Chris Archer is already one of the most entertaining pitchers on the planet. With his hair bursting out from underneath his cap and his cuffs pulled high to reveal a healthy portion of striped socks, Archer posted a 3.23 ERA in 212 innings and made his first All-Star appearance this season.
Turns out, he may be even better in the broadcast booth. Dressed in a smart suit and with his 'do looking absolutely splendiferous, the ace certainly looked the part. Although, going with the sockless loafers seemed to rub people the wrong way. (Personally, I was hoping for more stirrups).
Haha. People hating on my non sock game. It's called swag guys. Sorry. Lol. Jk. Love you all

After starting his night with the pregame Baseball Tonight broadcast, Archer dropped by to help out ESPN's game crew with some pitching analysis. It went so well that play-by-play man Dan Schulman practically begged Archer to come back for another inning.
One of the highlights was when Archer pointed out things he could learn from the Astros' ace. After Didi Gregorius flew out in the bottom of third, "If you watch the last sequence, it looked like a cutter on the corner, then he went with a breaking ball right off of that cutter. It looked like the same pitch, it ended up three inches off the plate away, you get weak contact away, and that's why he's having such a great year."
And fans watching the game took notice.
Chris Archer is 1 of the 10-12 best pitchers on Earth, and might also be 1 of the 10-12 baseball commentators on Earth. What a jerk.

Dude, Chris Archer asked to "please" stay? The pleasure is ours! Game is in such good hands, so many quality dudes and young stars.

If Chris Archer wasn't so good at throwing sliders, he'd instantly be one of the best baseball commentators.

Since starters only work once every fifth game, we can only hope that Rays broadcasts start incorporating Archer into their games next season. Otherwise, we'll just have to hope that humans are still announcing baseball when Archer's career ends in about 15 years.
